Hope against Cancer
The Hope Foundation was launched in 2002 to raise funds for research into the causes and treatment of cancer in Leicestershire and Rutland. It was founded by the late Allison Wilson CBE who discovered, after she was diagnosed with cancer in 1996, that the development of cancer care in Leicestershire and Rutland was hampered by lack of funding. Allison became aware during her own treatment that patients treated locally did not enjoy the proven advantages of being able to take part in clinical trials which were a feature of treatment in areas where there is strong financial support from cancer research charities. Allison's vision, then, was to provide Leicestershire and Rutland with their own dedicated charity which would raise money in the two counties, for use in the two counties....http://www.hfcr.org

Leicestershire TV is the result of years of global research, development and testing along with evolving trends in technology and people behaviour.
The concept is simple. Its a brand new online
TV service designed to cover all areas of life across Leicestershire. A one stop online web portal to enable people to be inspired, informed & entertained by what the county, its people and organisations can offer. As such, it will help to redefine local and national perceptions of what Leicestershire has to offer in a way that has not been done before.
In a very carefully developed site for optimised search and browsing, Leicestershire TV covers:- news, reviews, topical features, events- info on local facilities and services - guides for shopping, entertainment and sport, recreation, business, health etc- stories on local people, celebrities, places, innovations & ideas, events, successes- showcasing local talent (across music, arts, sports, specialist skills, amusing animals etc)- niche channels for different interest groups Leicestershire TV will be a mix of content from a wide range of content providers. Many channels will have more professionally created content, but it will feature people sharing their life, experiences, ideas & stories with other local people via video. The most liked & viewed content will always be forefront.
We want the content across Leicestershire TV to connect peoples’ lives locally. Rather than a “big-bang” launch, we have decided to grow the project organically through a series of campaigns to engage local people. We think that a good starting point is showcasing the range of talent & rising stars across arts, entertainment, sport and business.
The site has been developed by Channel 2020 Ltd. We are now working with a wide range of people & organisations across the county to drive this ambitious project in the best way we can.
